Misspelled Country Names
As someone who is from Colombia, I can 100% say we DO NOT it like when Colombia is spelled Columbia. I honestly cringe at that. But, that means we can correct the person and teach them not only the correct way to spell it, but teach them about the country as well. Here is a list of countries that are commonly misspelled.
- Philippines:
- The Philippines is located in Asia. The Philippines is considered a difficult word to spell as people, including myself, often add an extra "L" or take a away "P".

- Morocco:
- Located in Africa, Morocco is often written with either two "R" or one "C".
- Colombia:
- Colombia is located in the Americas. As I mentioned above, Colombia is often mistaken as Columbia is a place in North America. The "U" has a "UH" sound much like when you pronounce Colombia.
- Luxembourg:
- Luxembourg is located in Europe. When writing the word the 'bourg' part is often confused with an ending of 'burg'.

- Kyrgyzstan:
- Kyrgyztan is located in Asia. Lets be honest, it is kind of hard to spell. The "Y" can be confused with an "I", as well as the "Z" with an "S".
Yugoslavia:- Located in Europe. Yugoslavia can be wrongly written as "You"-goslavia.
- Kazakhstan:
- Kazakhstan is located in Asia. The same as Kyrgyzstan, it is difficult to spell without having to look it up in google or on a globe/map.
- Liechtenstein:
- Located in Europe, it's not only a hard word to spell but also pronounce. It is very much misspelled in any form, especially where the 'ie' and 'ei' are, as they can be easily fliped or forgotten.
